Duty pharmacy guide for Northern Cyprus
A pharmacy on duty is one that, in turn, stays open while the other pharmacies are closed. This guide explains how pharmacies on duty work in Northern Cyprus, when they are open and how to find the nearest one.
Who draws up the duty list?
The list is drawn up by region by the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Pharmacists (KTEB) and published for every day, about five weeks ahead. Eczane Kıbrıs takes the list from KTEB’s website, refreshes it several times a day and adds a map location to each pharmacy. Eczane Kıbrıs is not an official body.
Which regions are there?
The list covers nine regions: Nicosia, Kyrenia, Famagusta, Morphou, Lefka, Upper Mesaoria, Lower Mesaoria, İskele and Karpas. Each region’s page shows today’s pharmacies on duty, tomorrow’s list and the neighbourhoods of the region.
Not every region has a pharmacy on duty every day. On such days the pages show the nearest pharmacies on duty instead.
What are the opening hours?
Pharmacies on duty are usually open from 08:00 to 00:00; in some regions the hours differ and they can change from day to day. Today’s hours by region:
The hours of each pharmacy are also shown on its page. Between 00:00 and 08:00 even the pharmacies on duty are closed.
What to do at night or in an emergency
Between 00:00 and 08:00, and in any urgent health situation, call 112. A pharmacy on duty is for medicines and similar needs; in an emergency do not wait for one.
How do I find the nearest pharmacy on duty?
On the home page tap “Nearest to me”; if you allow location access, the pharmacies on duty are sorted by distance from you. If you are in a particular neighbourhood, look at its page, for example Gönyeli, Karakol, Yenişehir, Alsancak and Lapta. Every pharmacy page has a map, directions and a call button.
Holidays and public holidays
The duty list is published for every day, holidays included. See pharmacies on duty on holidays for the coming ones.
How reliable is the information?
The information comes from KTEB’s lists and may have changed; we recommend calling the pharmacy before you go. If a pharmacy’s address, phone or location is wrong, tell us on the support page.
